Winter Fun and WIW...

On Sunday night I was invited to hang out with some of Toronto's curvacious bloggers at Karen of {CurvyCanadian} house.

I was able to have lots of laughs with Karen, Alison of {RoundRaglanRoad} and Sarah Anne of {BigHipsRedLips}.  I got to know these ladies a lot more then just their persona's off Twitter and their blogs..lol  We shared some laughs, some yummy treats and even some great waffles Karen made and talked about fashion for a just a couple hours! hahaha

I was happy they invited this chick from Guelph to be a part of their crew and I cannot wait to hang out more and get to know the others who sadly could not make it.  Thanks again ladies for a nice Sunday afternoon.

WHAT I WORE:
jeans- Penningtons
shoes- TOMS
jacket- The Bay
top- OldNavy
earrings/ring- so old I don't remember! lol

Winter Fun...

Saturday was on of those days that something amazing and unique happens; my sister played baseball in the SKYDOME (Rogers Centre for those of you who go by the 'new' name).  It was quite awesome to watch her play her heart out with a team she had just met and of course watch her live out a dream!  As she played first base right under the jumbo-tron I was so happy for her and so excited to see it happen!  Although they lost in the playoff portion of the tournament I can only imagine what it felt like for her, cause as a spectator even I was in awe of this moment.  Congrats to my sister and her team on a job well done!

And Kirstie, congrats on accomplishing a life time goal and being able to do something so few people ever do in their lifetime, walk on the grass of the Skydome and PLAY the field.  Thanks for letting me scream out your name every time you were at bat; I believe I was the only person in the entire Dome doing so, and subsequently embarrassing you!..lol  What else are sisters for right!

Here are some pictures of this unreal Saturday afternoon!

Even I got to walk on the field!! UNREAL.. sadly not real grass..lol

Adore...

This week in Paris was COUTURE 2012 Fashion Week.  As the pictures grace the net and most of all from {style.com} my heart goes pitter patter at all the amazing clothes.  There is a 'je ne sais quoi' about everything that walks down a runway in Paris and more importantly the clothes, le sigh.

I find there is always confusion about what 'haute couture' really means and frankly I think the word is OVER used.  Here is a great definintion I found online so you to can be informed.

Haute couture (French for "high sewing" or "high dressmaking"; refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing. Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and it is usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable seamstresses, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques. Couture is a common abbreviation of haute couture and refers to the same thing in spirit.

Hope that gives you a better idea of why this fashion week is sooo amazing.

Here are some of my favourite looks from collections I adored.  And as a treat enjoy the videos of all the shows so you can view the entire collection! :)

Armani Prive 2012
* lots of greens, metallic, draping, and sheer materials.  The whole collection had this hard but feminine vibe.  You could tell it was serpentine inspired very 'exotic'.

Chanel 2012
Oh Uncle Karl, how you can do no wrong!
* a collection of blue hues, stark black/white outfits, mostly dropped waist and boat necklines.
The second dress the giraffe print is my favourite!!!

Giambattista Valli 2012
* lots of bows, feminine lines, lots of black/white combos, pops of fuschia, red and pink.  A very 'glamorous' collection.

Elie Saab 2012
If you have been reading FimC for a bit now you know I have a love affair with this designer.  And this collection was no exception.
* flirty, feminine. Pastels beyond the imagination.  Clean, elegant, they look light and airy but can you imagine the weight with that beading detail.  Beautiful.

GRIPE...

If Celine Dion was dead I think this shirt would make her roll over in her grave.  The songstress whose ballad "power of love" clearly inspired this shirt from {Forever21} is today's GRIPE.

I think this shirt should read "for the power of UGLY".  The cropped AND fringed, neon AND pastel tee needs to go away..lol  And don't even get me started on the jeans the model is sporting as well.

How about for "the power of style" NO ONE buy this shirt...lol

HAPPY WEDNESDAY GRIPE EVERYONE!

WIW...

Went out for dinner on Friday night and put together this outfit for a mini dressy vibe..lol  I love this sheer mullet shirt from {Forever21 it is still available} it goes with everything I find.  Paired it with some dark skinny jeans and some sparkles (but not to many) and poof!  A simple pulled together outfit.
Look who is behind me wanting to get on the blog too!

The other thing I love about this shirt, that back cut out!  Adds a little somthin' somthin' when people see you from behind.  Got to love clothing surprises!

What I Wore:
jeans- Torrid
sheer top- Forever21
tank/bracelets: H&M
earrings- ALDO

oh! paired this outfit with a pair of ankle flat black boots from ALDO!

Inspiration...

After a busy weekend trying to find inspiration for this blog sometimes is harder then it should be.  This morning I decided to make a post of  'winter' street fashion pictures that well, warms my heart.

I think it is always good to look for or try to look for inspiration where you might not usually find it.  I am currently searching all aspects of my life, starting with my coffee mug.  It is now empty.  Time to turn  on the positive thinking and refill the mug!! lol

WIW...

This week has been great to me.. ZERO Complaints!  The blog hit some milestones, over 100 twitter followers (if your not following me do so now! @friendsmycloset or click the TWITTER hanger on the rightside lol), some great blogger networking etc etc.

I have exciting things coming next week and cannot wait to share them with you.

This outfit is one I wore last Sunday... It is pretty much my simple weekend errand uniform, simple, clean, no fuss no muss!  Weekend uniforms always have to be versatile and comfy for running all your errands but try not to sacrifice some style while doing so.  Frumpy may be a style but not one  you should wear all the time.  Plus dressing up for errands in my opinion makes them more fun!

With this outfit I loved the little detail of the buttons on the shoulder and of course my little bow earrings!  And don't kid yourself I live in Canada, so as soon as I took these pictures I immediatly put on my winter sweater and mittens and headed out!

Hope your week was as good as mine and CHEERS TO THE WEEKEND!

What I Wore:
jeans- Penningtons
earrings/shoes/sunnies: Forever21
top: Old Navy

Winter Fun & WIW...

In November {TIFF} and {FashionTelevision} were hosting a style contest; you were to submit your version of the modern day Grace Kelly.  My girlfriend Daniela from {DanielaBurzesePhotgraphy} took some awesome pictures of me channeling my inner GK, you can see our entry {here}.  Sadly we did not win, our hunch is we ended up in the top 15 though but we did recieve free tickets to the TIFF exhibit of the one and only Grace Kelly.

On Tuesday evening we headed into the city and enjoyed a spectacular exhibit.  I learned a few new things about her, and did some much granted oogling over her clothes and her impeccable image.

Here are a couple pictures of our night out and of course what I wore!  Enjoy.

What I Wore:
jacket- Penningtons
jeans- Torrid

WIW...

On this past Saturday I had what I am calling date 1,000,000,000,000+ hahaha.  Dressing for a first date is always fun for me.  You try to show some style but not be over the top, I try to look cute yet sophisticated.  Well this outfit I found to be a perfect blend.  Classic white tee and a cardi paired with black tights a mini skirt.  I added some fun/flirtyness with the elephant necklace (elephants are good luck ;) ) and the stacked bracelets.  Oh! I clearly took these pictures before I put on shoes but I wore my Sparkly Toms!

What I Wore:
cardigan/tee- Old Navy
skirt/necklace- Forever21
tights- AdditionElle
bracelets- ALDO and personal
shoes- TOMS

Burgundy...

Will all the colour that is hitting the stores lately in hopes of Spring's arrival has gotten me excited.  A colour I think we should all be adding into our closets is some BURGUNDY, crisp cranberry or a dark fushia pending your personal crayon box...lol  Above are some pieces that should fit seamlessly into your wardrobe with just adding a POP to brighten up your days.  Be on the look out now for these items.  And as always click on the images above to see wear to purchase them!

Event Clothing...

Happy Monday!
Hope you had a fantastic weekend no matter where you were.

Today's Golden Globe recap is huge, so grab that coffee and buckle down!  Everyone looked amazing, I am not even sure I have a worst dressed!  There were a few stand out trends I saw, and as always I will do my best pick in each colour category!

Black

Claire Danes in J Mendel.  This dress was GORGEOUS!  The cutout back was spectacular too.  My pick for best in black!
Julianne Moore in Chanel
Mila Kunis in Dior
Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci
Salma Hayek in Gucci

The Blue and Green hue crew!

Kelly Osborne in Zac Posen
Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang
Michelle Williams in Jason Wu
Melissa McCarthy in Badgley Mischka
Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci Premiere.  Hands down she is best.  This dress and piattes, feathers and fit her life a glove!  As it should as Gucci Premiere custom made it for her.  Sultry yet sophisticated.
Simple and Neutral

Angelina Jolie in Versace
Kate Winslet in Jenny Packham
Nicole Richie in Julien MacDonald
Kate Beckinsale in Roberto Cavalli
Charlize Theron in Dior gets my vote.  I love the gathering on the side that opened up for a perfect leg moment on the red carpet.  I also enjoyed the headband in her hair that made the whole look slightly more whimsical.
 Devil in a Red Dress

Natalie Portman in Lanvin
Stacy Keibler in Valentino
Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen.  Now although she really couldn't walk in this dress because of the built up hils and bonning, she gets my approval.  Poured into this red dress she still looked AMAZING.
Viola Davis in Emilio Pucci
Emma Stone in Lanvin (Shocked it wasn't green..lol)
Now these are some misc dresses that I just adored.
Paula Patton in this standout lemon number by Monique Lhuillier

Jessica Biel in a lace Elie Saab.  Engagement ring?

Jenna Dewan in this mermaid coloured Maria Lucia Hohan. Backless to boot!

Sarah Michelle Gellar in what I think was the best/unqiue dress on the night!  Points for wearing this daring print by Monique Lhuillier.  So top of my list is her!

A trend that was definitely seen was sleeves.  Long sleeves, 1/4 sleeves.  Most recognizable is the cap-sleeve.  Here were three ladies all in Reem Acra sporting a subtle sexy cap sleeve.
Who was your favourite?  What colour was your pick!  Leave comments would love to hear from you!  Good or bad of course!

Enjoy your day!
