Event Clothing, Met Ball...

Last night was pretty much the OSCARS of the Fashion World.  It was the 2012 Met Ball held in New York City.  A ticket to benefit is $25,000 and the dresses rival that.  Celebrities, moguls, models, editors, designers and the 'whos who' comes out to grace the carpet and the steps up to the event.  This year was no disappointment!  Top trends were jewel tones, lots of lace, trains, everyone backless and feathers!  And now brace yourself for a long post where I break down my thoughts on a majority of outfits!!

Which is your pick for top dressed??

Sofia Vergara in Marchesa, the curvy goddess got it right again.  She knows what looks best on her body and never strays from that.  Loved the pink lip that added a bit of colour to the detailed grey.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino with Valentino Garavani.  Some how she can make this amish dress look AMAZING.  Although it is kinda 50/50, cause I like it then I don't. lol

Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana, a fantastic choice.  Such a feminine dress.
Would have liked a more sleek hair do instead of beach waves though.

Renee Zellweger in Pucci was extremely elegant.
Love the hip and but detailing makes the dress look even more womanly!

Leighton Meester in Marchesa.  My favourite part is the lace detailing across the bust and shoulders.
And her dark lip!

Leslie Mann in Nina Ricci with husband Judd Apatow.  Love the fluidity, airy look of this gown.  And with the black belt and shoes punched it up the nude just that much more!  Very modern.

Marion Cotillard in Dior.  It looks like a night sky!  Loving the black ombre to purple.  And not over powered by accessories, she looked awesome!

Mary-Kate Olsen in The Row.  Over-powering for her frame but nice dress though.
Not sure about the spray tan?!

Canadian Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan.  WOW.  The train is amazing the pattern of the metallic is great.
My favourite detail the tiniest spaghetti strap, it changed the entire look.

Lea Michele, dipped in navy.  Classic, simple, yet that plunging neckline is daring.
I want to be draped in the ocean!

Kristen Wiig, loved her new darker do!  Also liked the subtlety of the teal earrings.  Not to mention the tea-length gown was fantastic too!

Kristen Stewart in Balencaiga.  Love the 'rocker chic' vibe she went for.  The only thing I didn't like was the shoes.  Thought a simpler black strappy heel would have been better.
But she stuck true to herself that is for sure.

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte.  A risk for sure, and a risk that didn't pay off.
She looks like she should be in a Scooby-Doo film.

Kate Upton in Michael Kors.  Rumor has it she was not invited but went to Anna Wintour (editor of Vogue) and wrote the cheque and said I am coming.  For a this Sports Illustrated model she looked unreal at her first Met Gala.  The slicked hair was so fashion forward, and like I said earlier, backless and metallic, she was right on trend!  I hope she had fun!

Canadian Jessica Chastain in Louis Vuitton.  Loved the colour on her, the icey-blue was great, however I did not like the dress.  She doesn't look horrible but she has looked better.

Jessica Biel in Prada with Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford.  What a classy couple.  Jessica's choice was great!  Loved the pearl tones with the green and the length, classic.  And JT, nuff said.

Canadian Jessica Paré in L'Wren Scott.  She proved gold, column dress and a cap sleeve is a classic!

Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe.  Styling over the top with the sequin swim cap!!  But with uber-stylist Rachel Zoe designs who wouldn't want to look like they were dipped in pearls. Beautiful.

Kate Bosworth in Prada.  Feather and the colour were amazing so was the lip and her bracelet.  I fail to find why she needed the itty-bitty ballerina bun on her head... hmm

Ivanka Trump wearing velvet in May, that was a risk but I love the geometrical top.  I think this could have been a fashion fail if she had worn her hair down and hid the turtleneck.  Still not sure its very Spring-ish.

January Jones Versace, she is always wearing tailored pieces and this is top notch.  The colour was fresh and daring.  A+.  I did read review that said "Kill Bill Much", touche.

Lana del Ray in Altuzarra tried to duplicate Gwyneth's Tom Ford look from the Oscars and I think she pulled it off.  Her darker hair was a great choice with the metallic gown.  I need a floor length cape!

Heidi Klum in Escada.  Stunning.  I want to be her when I am older.  WOW.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Prada, and with legs like that I would have worn this too!  Something to note, it is also BACKLESS.  So basically not a whole lot of dress! lol
She rocked the apron look though I will give her that!

Gisele Bundchen in Givenchy with husband Tom Brady.  Always toted as the best looking couple at this event, and they lived up to it again this year.  High slit, sequins and in black, perfect.
Love his velvet tux jacket, even in May!..lol

Canadian model Coca Rocha in an original Elizabeth Taylor suit bought at auction.  I appreciate the 'Barbie' look she went for and frankly she would have been the ONLY person to ever pull off this look.

Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera, making everyone 'green' envy!  Old Hollywood glam'ed out hair with that colour, she did no wrong!  Also love the little bow on the belt!

Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzou, now that is how you do a 'high fashion' peplum!  Now some might think this is too costume'y but I LOVED it, she took a risk and it most definitely paid off.

Emma Stone in Lanvin.  I thought she could have done WAY more glamour.  It was safe choice and frankly thought it made her look 12.  Although she looks great I was disappointed.

Donna Karan, chic and classy.  Loved the wing-tipped neckline and the rouching.
Elegant.  And of course some feathers..lol

Newlywed Carey Mulligan in Prada  was hailed was one of the best dressed and I would agree.  All those metal scallops and piattes she looked awesome.
This would be the classiest reptile'esque dress if I ever saw one!

Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen.  Hands down one of the best dressed of the night.  Simple yet not.  The all over black was perfect.  It is McQueen though, I mean,
never a bad gown when designed by Sarah Burton.

Seasoned fashion risk taker Chloë Sevigny in Miu Miu.  How can you not appreciate the 60's esque vibe.  She pulled it off.  Personally the little pink clutch was a great addition, shows she can have some fun!

Christina Ricci in Thakoon spelled DRAMA!  For her petite frame surprisingly the flare didn't over whelm her.  On a night for fashion is so appreciated she made a stellar choice!

Claire Danes in J. Mendel with husband Hugh Dancy.  FRESH, FRESH, FRESH.  Loving the all white look with just the teal clutch.  Simplicity at its finest.

Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney, what is the 'something about Mary' hair?!  Hair aside dress was great, LOVED the long sleeves.

Beyoncé in Givenchy, hit EVERY trend.  Sleeves, backless, lace, feathers.  Do you think the hint of the blue-ish feathers was an ode to her daughter?!  My only thing is the dress is see-thru pretty much!
Now that is a risk!

Watch out Angelina Jolie's leg, Anja Rubik in Anthony Vaccarello hip is here to stay!  I mean really, not much to say but she can rock it.  That is a models prerogative and it was a success.
New accessory for Summer I think will be a boney hip!..lol

Amy Adams in Giambattista Valli.  Overall grade A but the best part is the bow detailing on her hip.
What a great package she is!

Amber Heard in Zac Posen with the designer.  That dusty  rose is a perfect colour for her hair and skin tone.  And Mr. Posen's tailoring is amazing, look at that corseting detail.
