Styling...

{ModCloth} came to me a week back and asked me to style their {CoachTourDress} any which way I wanted, how perfect!  Bonus, it is a competition!  If you haven't heard of the online retailer, RUN to their site now!  They have amazing pieces and in sizes 2-32!  Ladies you cannot go wrong!

Since it is the Holiday season and all of our social calenders are booked up, I thought this would be the perfect way to take what is a seemingly casual black dress and then style it two ways.  Since we all have a simple yet casual black dress we do not need to buy a fancy one just for an occasion.

The first look is easy.. pair some bold burgundy heels and a matching bag.  The earrings jazz it up.  It is sexy sophisticated without being over the top.

Second look is all about pizzazz!  This would be for the holiday party that is most definitely fancier.  Adding some great booties and a clutch that is to die for is a perfect statement.

Pair both looks with tights since that always gives a good base to a dress this time of year.  All the times below are from the {ModCloth} site too, so it is one stop shopping for any type of event.

Hope you like my styling head over to {Polyvore} if you do and hit LIKE.... I do want to win ;)

Styling...

Yesterday's {post} I showcased shoes I picked out for Kristy to wear with the dress she picked to attend a wedding in.  She came back with her top to favorites, the coral and green shoes, they were in my top 3! Great minds think alike.  My top fav were the plum-mulit coloured Nine West stacked heels.

Today with those choices made we move onto jewellery and handbags to complete the look!  These are guidelines, inspiration, something for her to draw on when she is putting it all together.  Even though I styled them and am biased, lol, I love all three choices and don't think she can go wrong at all!

Hopefully I can convince Kristy to take some shots of what she ultimately wore to the wedding and we can post here and show you the final look!!!

The coral shoes.  With this I would stack a ton of gold bangles and add a wrist harness ring to add a little funk to the feminine dress.  No necklace or earrings letting the shoes and this great Zara clutch do all the talking.  The coral/watermelon colour is right on trend for this summer and would be perfect with the floral print of the dress.
choice 3....
The multi coloured shoes.  I thought these would be perfect, muted colours but lots of them would be a great Summer wedding shoe.  The stacked heel would be easy to stand in all day too.  I  know Kristy loves her boyfriend watch so add that into the mix gives the look a great simple feel.  A clutch in raffia brings in the texture of the shoes.  Then just stack some great simple gold rings on her fingers and knuckles to compliment the grommets on the neckline of this dress.

Choice 1....

The green shoes.  How amazing is the mint-ish green with the floral on that dress right!  This shoe I thought would look gorgeous with the dip hemline.  Uber-sexy still with wedding day class!  Paired with a great drop earring and a simple necklace, her watch again and a nude clutch keeps everything simple and clean yet so fresh!

choice 2....

Which look is your top choice?  Let me know!!

Wedding Shoe Styling...

Wedding Shoe Styling...

I am soooo honored with friends ask me to help style them for events.  I blessed they even care what I think.  So when my college girlfriend Kristy sent me a picture of this hi-low dress she purchased for an upcoming wedding and said "GO" I jumped to style it!

For you readers we are going to mix this 'styling' up.  First I am going to let her chose her top three choices out of the shoes I think will go with this dress.  And yes, I have a favorite I hope secretly she chooses..lol  Once she picks shoes I will move on and do the rest.  I am a shoe lover as most of you know, so I always, like 98% of the time pick my shoes first for an outfit.  Hell, sometimes I buy the shoes THEN find a dress..lol  Once I have the shoes I can style jewels and handbags around them.  They are the easier things to find etc so making them the last choice is simple.

With the dress being a muted grey/purple print on cream I wanted BRIGHT shoes; make it pop so to speak.  Also add a little contrast to the print.  All these shoes are currently available now in stores, some cheap, some reasonable some on the high end.  Shop from everywhere, never limit your options!

So!  Kristy, pick away!  Any of these tickle your fancy?!?!

Summer Errands...

Keeping with yesterday's theme of outfits that SCREAM summer, I saw a lovely lady wearing this outfit at the beach over the weekend and knew I had to share it will you all.  Lace shorts are in full force this year and pairing with a simple black tube top is a perfect balance.  Party on the bottom and business on top!..lol  Adding a great boho bag (FEED bags are for a great cause) and some t-strap sandals and you are set.

I love the simplicity of this look, fresh and comfy; perfect for all summer patios and errands!

Single Soled...

Single Soled...

I learned something while reading VOGUE a while back, shoes like the ones above are called 'single soled' I always just called them flat fronts..lol.... little did I know!  So in the essence of making us all smarter lets tell everyone we know!  Single Soles are back and in a big way!  Platforms are not going anywhere but the single sole is the current statement shoe.  A little harder to walk in (add the cushions to the front) they actually make your legs look way longer than platforms.  They are super feminine, and frankly we/you/me won't be walking around clunking like a Clydesdale in these like we do in our 3 inch platform heels!

I bought my first pair in like FOREVER for my birthday post {here} and I agree they are amazing.  Something about going back to a classic heel is always amazing.  Above are some pricey options but keep an eye out for ones you can afford.  And ladies, happy heels make happy ladies! :)

Varsity Jacket...

90's fashions are popping up everywhere!  From Paris runways to the top street style blogs.  Most of what I see are the revival of Varsity Jackets.  At first I was like, there is no way I can wear one of these, then I saw {ShutUpILoveThat} blog's post and I was like ahhh it is way more versatile than I thought!

This is what I love about the world of blogging, just when you doubt a trend, someone comes a long and shows you just how perfect it can fit into your wardrobe.  Suffice to say {this} jacket will soon be mine!  R for Roberts, I mean please, how could I resist!

Metallic Cap Toes...

Pointy toed shoes are back and in a BIG WAY!  So pull yours out of the back of your closet and dust them off!
The new way of sprucing up any shoe is the metallic cap!  Mostly done in the pointy toe version they are available in every price range, every colour and best yet, flats to sky high heights.

Pull out any old dress you have, re-wear it, but go and add this trendy new addition to it.  Will for sure breathe new life into an old outfit.  If you are strapped for cash, there are TONS of cap toe DIY videos and blogs out there; I am sure you can find zillions on Pinterest.

Happy Cap-ing!

Winter Weather Dressing 1

Winter Weather Dressing

Yesterday I mentioned how hard it is to be inspired to dress nice when all it seems us Canadians do is try to add some pizazz with a scarf to our jackets.  This coming Friday I am heading to a hockey game with the best friend and it is supposed to be 9c out.. HELLA WARM for January.  Got me thinking, how can I NOT wear the big bulky coat out to the game but still stay warm; This is what I came up with!

I will for sure take pictures for you and show you that I do put my money wear my mouth is and wear what I preach!
And perhaps with all this warm weather on the horizon I can finally get some WIW posts done without freezing my buns off in the snow!

Happy Tuesday ;)

Winter Weather Dressing

Winter is here and well frankly, my dressing goes down the tubes.  To find some inspiration this weekend I assembled a few outfits that are more of what I should try to aspire to wear when out with friends, movie nights and for all errands really.

This outfit is everything I want to be... Stylish, simple, classic and preppy all at the same time!  I might not have all these pieces in my closet but I sure can channel this look and make it my own!

Finding INSPIRATION for Winter dressing is always so much fun here in the Great White North!

Moustache Love...

Movember is upon us.... Not sure what that is, let me explain! lol  November is the month that men here in Canada and in the US will start to grow mustaches in order to raise funds for men's cancers below the belt.  You can read much more on the campaign {here} and donate there as well.  Something us ladies who support and donate, and for those who have to tolerate a furry upper lip for the month we gladly refer to as MO-sista's!  Clever eh!  Well this Movember it works out perfectly that mustaches can be found EVERYWHERE and in a variety of options!  Click on the above image to see where to get these pieces.

However, do not only buy a mustache product but do donate to this great cause.  Cancer effects everyone, so be a great MO-sista and donate!  Save our men! lol

Animal Love...

Last week I expressed how small animal graphic prints are popping all over stores, see that post {here}.  Also showing up on all the top bloggers sites and in stores are the LARGE animals! lol  Not so much a print as it is a statement.  Think, this is something my Grandma would knit me, and then spice it up and make it all your own!  Below are a couple images on how perfectly stylish this large ANIMAL can be!

So are you more of a fox girl, an owl girl, or a cat lover all the way?

Trends...

Well my apologies for a lack of post these past two days.  Monday was a holiday and I cleaned the house and relaxed plenty.  And yesterday my 9-5 moved into their new office building and well, there was no time to post or promote! hahaha

So I thought for today let's talk FALL ESSENTIALS!  I was reminded of these great additions while shopping with my mum and sis this past weekend.  These few items are in full affect in every store, in prices high to low.  Each season it is always nice to update the closet with some trendy and fashion forward pieces and this season these are those.

Be daring with the structured hat with a great pop of colour for drab days, try OXBLOOD/Bordeaux as a great addition to a neutral outfit.  And have fun with the animal of choice in your top!

And it is FALL, so make sure whatever you wear you are comfortable, it is all about comfort in fall and cozy days in great clothes.

Gripe...

Gripe...

Gripe...

To the young lady that was wearing these pants and a similar trapper hat at the bus stop I drove by this morning, I hope you are reading this blog.

The pants I don't mind, the hat, I have one,  BUT wearing them together is a NO NO.  Today I am GRIPing over the fact that these pants say "its cold outside but I am not ready for winter" whereas the hat says " it's chilly outside and I am single handily going to usher in winter".  FAIL.  You cannot wear this together, separately yes, together NO.

People, when you get dressed in the morning look in the mirror, if any part of your brain goes hmmm, CHANGE.. run to CHANGE!!!!

Today's is one of 'those' days..lol.. and well a GRIPE was needed!  lol
Thank you for letting me vent!

Enjoy  your day!..lol

Look-a-Like...

Morning!
Well today might be my first day of work in Sept, for some first day back to school, but what it isn't is COOL.  It is sooo humid today which always reminds me Summer is still here!  Before I pull  out my Chelsea boots, which I am dying to do, I will look at this outfit Kate Beckinsale wore on a press tour and remind myself Summer hasn't left yet!  I love it, fresh and summery, makes me smile just looking at the peachy/sherbert coloured top!  You to can get this look for under $200, because end of season sales are the best times to stock up closet pieces for next year.  Get these pieces cause this classic pencil skirt look will not be going out of style, mark my words!  Click on the image to see where to get these particular pieces.

Happy September!!!!

Styling, Hollywood Tourist...

Long Car Rides...

Hollywood Sightseeing...

Chateau Marmont Dinner and Drinks...

A friend told me she was heading into LA/Hollywood and asked for some styling suggestions!  Here are a few looks I put together for her to get her packing JUMPING off!

First outfit is for the car rides between cities... I suggest something classic, since you never know where you might stop to eat lunch!  A classic linen pant, a comfy tee and a jacket for the convertible top down, and some simple jewellery cause car rides don't have to be fancy!

Second, the day to day tourist outfit... I suggest since it is still Summer, a great short and linen top cause it will get super hot walking around all day.  Some comfy gladiator sandals, a watch to keep your touring on time and a hat of course to be extra cool!

Thirdly, a cocktail dinner and drinks look... She I suggest a great sexy cocktail dress, either go super bright for Summer or a class LBD are both great options.  You need a great heel, I would suggest to pack the roll-up flats in your clutch cause every girl knows, 6inch heels are hard to walk around in all night; plus after a night of dancing, those tootsies will be sore!  Adding some great jewellery she will be all set for a Hollywood night on the town!

Marliese, I hope you have a great vacation, enjoy all the sights, and if you run into Johnny Depp, tell him I say hello!..lol

For the rest of us, HAPPY LONG WEEKEND!!!!

Backpacks...

I know some viewers went back to University this week and I am sure they rushed out to buy their back to school back pack! hahaha  But backpacks are not just for the students anymore; they are an item/accessory that is for all the ladies and gents.
All the major retailers are taking the backpack and making it super fashionable!  You can find them from low end stores like Forever21 to ALDO and working your way up to what I know as the MOST expensive backpack from The Row.
With so many options, you will not feel like a student but the most fashionable person in your office and on the street!  Just think of all the fun items that will fit in it that don't fit into your handbag! lol

Click on the photo above to see where to purchase those bags if one tickles your fancy!

Rib-Fest Casual...

Rib-Fest Casual...

This coming weekend a bunch of girlfriends and I are going to our local {Rib-Fest} and well, I don't like ribs at all but I never turn down on an event with my girls!  Since I don't like ribs I have never been to this festival lol so I needed to do some outfit planning and I decided on the above look!
I live in my black shorts in the Summer so that staple is a must, flats for ease of walking to each vendor, and thinking this new stripe shirt from {OldNavy} in my closet finally should be worn!  Adding some girly jewels like my new AMAZING skull earrings from {ALDO} are a must to be quint-essentially Carlie!

For all you rib-festers out there, does this outfit work?!  Let me know!

Wish List...

Easy Style...

Easy Style...

As I said on {Twitter} this morning, I should have worn a jacket into work... brrr.

With Fall on the horizon whether you want it to come or not I immediately start thinking what wardrobe I essentials I want/need.  Loafers, smoking flats, slippers, whatever you chose to call them, I want/need them!  Every Fall I buy a pair and I wear them out so quickly I that each Fall I treat myself to a new pair.  This year I think I will be going for a leopard loafer like the one above.  I did however say the same thing last year and couldn't find one I loved therefore opting for a black pair, but I will try again this year.

Instead of the classic ballet flat again this Fall upgrade your look to a loafer.  Printed, suede, leather or studded it is a great way to jazz up any outfit, and not to mention some adding stylish comfort, which are not two words easily put together!

Cap Toe...

Cap Toe...

Why not put your best foot forward this coming fashion season?  A trend that has been EVERYWHERE, as you can tell by all the pictures is the 'cap toe' and doesn't show any signs of slowing down!  You can dress it up, dress it down, buy expensive pairs, cheap pairs, DIY a pair with some tape and paint.

I am thrilled A, that the pointy shoe is back, means I can bring some shoes back into roation, but this cap toe is a perfect update to a classic pump!

As far as trends go, I think this is a great one to get behind, not to mention and easy one everyone can wear since you see it in flats to sky high heels.
Go get capped!

Styling, Olympics...

Well it is Friday.. it is also the last Friday of the Olympic Games and the closing ceremonies are this coming Sunday.  It has been a great couple weeks, I have been glued to my TV as much as I can, I have cried at strangers life stories, celebrated wins with my fellow Canadians, and most of all I have been PROUD to be CANADIAN!

We might not have won as many gold medals as China or the US however it is my favourite colour and today's post is to celebrate the 1x gold we DO have!  Gold is that neutral that will never go out of style.  You can wear it like a Queen or wear it like Mr. T, either way it works! lol

This weekend take some time to celebrate life, friends, and win your OWN gold medal in some way!
I do not doubt that you DESERVE it!
