Rib-Fest Casual... 

This coming weekend a bunch of girlfriends and I are going to our local {Rib-Fest} and well, I don't like ribs at all but I never turn down on an event with my girls!  Since I don't like ribs I have never been to this festival lol so I needed to do some outfit planning and I decided on the above look! 
I live in my black shorts in the Summer so that staple is a must, flats for ease of walking to each vendor, and thinking this new stripe shirt from {OldNavy} in my closet finally should be worn!  Adding some girly jewels like my new AMAZING skull earrings from {ALDO} are a must to be quint-essentially Carlie!

Summer Fun...

This past weekend I did lots of errands and caught up with some friends at a going away party.

However the highlight of my weekend was my Family Reunion!  We do it every two years and all of my cousins, aunts and uncles come from all over to join us!  This year we had approx 150 people attend, but I know if everyone was to come we would be very close to 200 if not over.

I enjoy this reunion every other year we have it.  We all catch up, laugh, and marvel at the size of the kids that have grown in those past years.  This year I was excited to hear so many of my cousins were headed off to their first year or university or college, excitted to see a cousin expecting and above all else, to laugh with all my family.

Thank you to my family from Detroit that were the host  family this year, the weather was great, the food was delicious and as always much love to all my Italian family!

Summer Fun...

Oh what a long weekend I had!

My girlfriends {Cindy} and Shannon and myself headed to Montreal for the {Osheaga} music festival.  And it was nothing short of amazing!  Super HOT, humid, rainy on the Sunday, fantastic music and my personal favorite, LOTS and LOTS of laughs!  Bands we saw included, Feist, Garbage, Sheepdogs, Franz Ferninad, The Black Keys, Metric, The Shins, Florence and the Machine, to name a few! 10, 000+ people easily (I have no idea if that is a true number, I am guessing cause crowds were MASSIVE) how could you not have a good time!

Outfit posts will be happening all week, but in the mean time here is 'breif' photo review of the weekend!

Summer Fun...

Among some of the fun things I did this weekend was head into the city for a blogger closet event!  Some of the great CURVY Bloggers from the city opened their closets and did a clothing sale.  I had nothing to sell sadly because when {Karen} announced the event I had just donated a bunch of clothes to good will.
boo urns.  But for those ladies that did I know a bunch of curvy girls that say THANK YOU!  I didn't see anyone leave without a bag!  Even I scored a vintage dress that I might wear to an upcoming concert, which of course I will showcase on here!

Thanks to {Karen} for putting on the event, it went soooo well.  Also shout out to all my ladies!  Always nice to catch up with some bloggers, talk shop, fashion, boys and all the stuff that makes girl chat all that much more fun!

Hope you had a good weekend as well with WHATEVER you got up too!

Summer Fun...

Well today starts a really fun weekend for me.  One of my oldest friends gets married and I cannot wait to celebrate all weekend!  I look forward to showing you all the picutres next week of what I wore!  I got some great outfits up my sleeve!!

Finds & Summer Fun...

It is Wednesday, mid week, and I can almost smell this up coming long weekend.  This weekend we will celebrate all things CANADIAN as July 1st (Sunday) is Canada Day. 

Here are ten things I will make sure get done this weekend:

1. Drink a Canadian beer or many Canadian beers

2. Wear as much Canadian inspired clothing I can

3. Try to find a beaver and shake his/her hand for such good national representation

4. Lie on a beach and forget that it will be snowing soon enough

5. I will at least once break out into song and sing the national anthem off tune

6. Eat poutine (if you do not know, it is THIS)

7. Watch fireworks

8. Be VERY thankful for this great land and the opportunities I have because I was born here

9. Send my American cousins a HAPPY CANADA DAY text

10. Laugh LOTS

Summer Fun...

Wedding season is in full swing, and when one of your oldest friends gets married you throw her the best last fling that you can!  This weekend was exactly that, it was also the reason for no post yesterday I was exhausted from all the fun we had!

The weekend took place in Niagara Falls and here is the night in the all PG rated photos I could post!

I look forward to Laura marrying the love of her life in a few short weeks and watching them have a successful marriage in all the years to come!

The ladies and I started up the day of fun with high tea at the {Queen Charlotte Tea Room}.  It was most definitly a high light of the day.  We had great conversation and all got to know each other better.

Summer Fun...

Last night is what summer nights are supposed to be like.  Hot air, smiles, good beer and great friends.  My Tuesday night walk home was probably the best walk home for a summer night ever; I plucked some flowers (shhh..lol) and strolled home from an event and thought to myself, "in this moment I am having a love affair with my city".  I went to bed with a sense of summer joy that I haven't had in while.  For a Tuesday, I couldn't have asked for a better night!

Now to tell you how it all went down!

Our local artisan cafe/restaurant {Cornerstone} was host to {WellingtonBrewery} showcasing their lineup of five beers and local cheese shop {Ouderkirk&Taylor} paired cheese with their beers.  This was perfect for me since I am not a big fan of darker beers I got to expand my horizons and try new things, something I love doing.  And then as a lover of cheese it was perfect to try some amazing cheeses and also experience them with beer!  Something I have never thought to do or would have thought go together!  Jeff from {Ouderkirk&Taylor} and Bryan from {WellingtonBrewery} walked us thru each beer and cheese and I can say I came out learning lots!  Below are some pictures of the beer/cheese/and event to show you how it all looked!  I cannot wait to do it again next year!  I love when local shops get together and do these events, it is just another reason I love this city.  You mingle with people you might not otherwise have the chance to do, you try new things, and most of all you have a Tuesday night for the memory books that might have been spent at home otherwise.

Now since this is a fashion/lifestyle blog I should be showing you what I wore.  But frankly it was so humid last night both getting ready and at the event that I was melting and it wouldn't have made for good pictures!  hahahaha but so you have an idea I did wear {this} romper!..lol  And hair UP because again it was just sooo darn hot out!

Going to local festivals/markets is one of my favourite summer time activities.  Last weekend (when the sun was around) I went to our annual Potters Market.  Potters from all over come to a park that lines the river to sell their creative and amazing goods.  Here are a few pictures I snapped.

Now sadly I was wearing workout clothes (I went right from rowing) but what I wanted to be wearing is the below outfit.  Shorts, a breezy top some great wedges and my new bag!  Sometimes wearing workout clothes OUT happens, I just try not to make it a 'thing' only cause I don't workout in anything fancy! lol

Summer Fun...

Well the first TRUE long weekend of the year has now come and gone.  May two-four, Victoria Day whatever you want to call it, I will say SUMMER IS HERE!!!  I now have a tan/burn to prove it! hahaha  As much as I did a LOT this weekend I feel like I did nothing at all.  Isn't that the sign of a good weekend though?  Spent it with friends, laughed for hours on end, relaxed in the shade and read a few magazines, and got back into Rowing, something I haven't done in years.

I cannot wait until the next long weekend, but I will just take another weekend of sunshine and good friends any time soon.

It was an idealic morning.

Finally being able to sit on my veranda and read the BACKLOG of magazines I have to read.  So I started with a December issue.  They were right on many trends this issue predicted.  Dark lips, lots of chiffon and prints, prints prints!

While sitting with a few friends on Sunday at my house this was the above view from my lawn chair.  I mean really!  Look at that, ahhhhh, long weekends!
