Fall Fun...

Oh Monday's  you come so soon!
Friday night was {Oktoberfest} and it already seems like so long ago!  My friends and I laughed our petunia's off!!  We sang, danced, drank and most of all made memories.  A perfect Friday evening.

While the rest of my weekend was quite relaxing a trip to the movies to see {Pitch Perfect} on Saturday evening had me howling at the screen!!  I cannot wait to watch it again, it was super funny.

I love when I can laugh an entire weekend away!  Here are just a couple pictures from Friday night.
Laughter is by far the best medicine.

Summer Fun...

Last night is what summer nights are supposed to be like.  Hot air, smiles, good beer and great friends.  My Tuesday night walk home was probably the best walk home for a summer night ever; I plucked some flowers (shhh..lol) and strolled home from an event and thought to myself, "in this moment I am having a love affair with my city".  I went to bed with a sense of summer joy that I haven't had in while.  For a Tuesday, I couldn't have asked for a better night!

Now to tell you how it all went down!

Our local artisan cafe/restaurant {Cornerstone} was host to {WellingtonBrewery} showcasing their lineup of five beers and local cheese shop {Ouderkirk&Taylor} paired cheese with their beers.  This was perfect for me since I am not a big fan of darker beers I got to expand my horizons and try new things, something I love doing.  And then as a lover of cheese it was perfect to try some amazing cheeses and also experience them with beer!  Something I have never thought to do or would have thought go together!  Jeff from {Ouderkirk&Taylor} and Bryan from {WellingtonBrewery} walked us thru each beer and cheese and I can say I came out learning lots!  Below are some pictures of the beer/cheese/and event to show you how it all looked!  I cannot wait to do it again next year!  I love when local shops get together and do these events, it is just another reason I love this city.  You mingle with people you might not otherwise have the chance to do, you try new things, and most of all you have a Tuesday night for the memory books that might have been spent at home otherwise.

Now since this is a fashion/lifestyle blog I should be showing you what I wore.  But frankly it was so humid last night both getting ready and at the event that I was melting and it wouldn't have made for good pictures!  hahahaha but so you have an idea I did wear {this} romper!..lol  And hair UP because again it was just sooo darn hot out!

How did you spend your Tuesday night?

Just Because...

I bought this print at {Urban Outfitters} a couple weeks back.  I am just awaiting having it framed soon.
So as the print says, I am running away this weekend to Kingsville to hang out with the best friend {Cindy} and heading over to Detroit to do some shopping and visit our other friend Ayaz.

I know we will have lots of laughs and some much needed best friend time before she heads back to the UK for her final semester of school.  Oh July come sooner rather then later. (she graduates then)

Enjoy your weekend while doing whatever your little heart desires.

Fall Fun...

The highlight of the weekend was heading to Niagara-on-the-Lake with a group of friends to celebrate friend Angela's birthday.  It is becoming a tradition for her birthday to head to the wine region and do a winery tour and have more laughs then are imaginable.  This year we did four wineries, one 3-course dinner at the amazing {Charles Inn} and the back to the hotel for a good ole' 3am fire alarm/evacuation.

The weekend was amazing, the friends even better, and the laughs, legendary.  Mini-vacations away with friends always get better with age, just like wine; cheers to many more years of these weekends together.  Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Summer Fun...

With summer coming to an end, so does the ability to wear bright colours without standing out.  This past Friday I went out with friends to send off our buddy Jamie who will be visiting New Zealand for a month.  With a few days left in August I pulled out my coral summer dress, paired it with a bright and fun flowered bib necklace.  To make the look more convertible into fall I paired it with a black cardigan and flat T-strap sandals.  Earlier in the summer I wore the same dress to my high school reunion, but paired it with a white cardigan and cognac wedges.  Same dress two totally different looks.  So pull out those bright summer colours for this coming long weekend, and soak up what is left of these hot summer days!

party goers!!

Finds...

Off to the Races we go!

My friend Liz recently asked me to help her pick out an outfit for a night at the race track.  I jumped at this chance.  Liz is a gorgeous, dark curly haired lady that could pull anything off!  She told me wanted the look to incorporate a fascinator and be a dressier rather than casual outfit.  This is what I have chosen.

I started with the fascinator; the rich purple and rust colours with just an accent of green are a great jumping off point.  I think a jewel tone purple dress would work best, not only can it be worn in summer, but paired with opaque tights she could wear it thru winter and fall; why not get more bang for your buck!  Because nights are getting cooler, I think a cardigan in a nice neutral colour would not take away from the dress but keep her warm yet stylish.  Small accessories like this horse necklace (an ode to the night of course) and a green earring suit the fascinator without taking away its spotlight.  The green earrings are meant to pick up the slight green feathers in the head piece.  Finally rounding out the outfit is again a neutral clutch and peep toe; again this colour will go all year no matter the season.

Liz, I hope this helps/inspires to you pick out a great outfit, but no matter what you chose I know you will look fantastic!  And more importantly, I hope you have a great time out that night!

Summer Fun...

This past weekend I had one of the most shocking things happen to me.  On Saturday afternoon my girlfriend Corrine, who lives in Dubai, poked her head into my house and totally surprised me!  I had not seen Corrine since Christmas and I didn’t think I would see her till this coming Christmas.  I was hosting my annual summer party, and she booked a flight into town before a vacation she is about to take and surprised me.  And boy oh boy I was surprised!

Before anyone arrived for the party I was able to sit down for two hours with two of my best girlies both who live on different continents and just talk.  In that moment I thought I am so grateful that these girls take time out from visiting their families to just sit on my couch and catch up.  It’s these small things in life that make me lucky and happy that these ladies keep in touch and that no matter the distance and time between visits, they are still my best friends.

In just five short days Corrine with go back to Dubai and Cindy will go back to London, England, and I will start the countdown till Christmas when I can just sit with them again and enjoy their company.  Love you ladies.
