Spotlight...

The July/August issue of {condolife} is out on news stands, and take a look who got a cameo, mama-sita JANET!!!  My mum attended a benefit evening entitled ‘Denim and Diamonds’ in support of WINC, Women in Construction.  This organization of professional women that service communities and individuals who need help or are in crisis.  In attendance were Canada’s top interior designers, Nicholas Rosaci, Glen Peloso, Jane Lockhart, Ramsin Khaci and Karen Sealy and more!  My mum was a guest of her friend Kathleen Kelly who works in lifestyle magazine advertising.

Weeks following the event my mum was still talking about all the designers and what a great time she had.  She even won an auction to have Glen Peloso do a home consultation on her house!

Doesn’t my mum just look like she was made to be in magazines!   You rock Mum!

Event Clothing...

Hope Everyone had a great weekend!

This coming Saturday I am heading to my first country music outdoor festival, 

yes, I am heading to Bayfest!

Much to my shock and I am sure yours that I am going, I thought it would be a fun outing with my sister and her friends; my sister thinks she is a country kid even though she has city roots lol.  Now that the day is upon me I had to start putting together an outfit.  Since it takes place late afternoon I still wanted a summery day outfit, hence the shorts and stylish cami, then need the cropped denim coat at night (fyi, mine finally came in the mail, woot woot), pairing it with some great gladiator sandals too.  Now the only thing I haven’t found yet is the single feather earring, however, if its hot I have to wear my hair up and the earring wont have the same effect as it would blending into my hair.  So accessories still to come but overall think these clothes will be my first (possibly only) look ever to be worn to an outdoor country music festival.  Wish this city kid luck!

Spotlight...

One of my favorite blogs that I check out at least 3 times a week if not daily is {STREETFSN} it belongs to amazing fashion street photography HB Nam.  All street photog’s have a dream job and Nam is no exception.  His pictures are beautiful, well positioned and he always seems to focus in on the little details of an outfit that for me making dressing the best part of the day.  I have chosen a few pics from the past Men’s Week in Paris and Haute Couture week as well to give you a sampling of his fine work.

Saw this idea on {apartmenttherapy} and it is one fantastic idea!  Only wish my lawn was level and I owned this many pillows!  What movie would I screen first?!  Suggestions!!!!???

Inspiration ...

Style Icon #2.

My next fashion icon is one I know must of you will not know, Emmanuelle Alt.  She currently resides as Editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris; a title she just received earlier this year as a promotion from fashion director when fashion queen Carine Roitfeld quit.

Her style is always sexy.  I have always seen pics of her in skinny jeans, blazers, minimal jewelry, and sky high heels (showed all below).  Her style I would refer to as rock chic.  Aside from Charlize my love of blazers also comes from Alt.  Yet Charlize has a more laid back feel Alt is always ‘on’ and her looks are hard and very evening, even if  it's day light!  Alt knows what cuts and colours look best on her, something I think we all strive to perfect.  She has her own dress code and never strays.  I wonder if she really owns anything in bright green or neon? lol

To me she oozes a Parisian Rock feel that I just cannot get enough of.

Inspiration ...

So this long weekend has kicked my butt!  I got so relaxed, getting back into the swing of the blog has been harder then I thought.  Made a mental note to have some blogs prepared before a long weekend so the comeback is easier next time!

This week I am dedicating the blog to my style icons.  Some might surprise you, some you might never even have heard of.  I think by me showcasing these ladies you will get a better sense of where I draw my fashion inspiration from and even inspire you perhaps!

Inspiration numero uno; Charlize Theron.  She is an actress, an activist and an overall guy’s girl.  Just my kinda lady!  Although her red carpet looks are always stunning, she wears colours that always compliment her skin tone, especially jewel tones.  For me, since my red carpet looks are limited, it’s her casual day to day style that I covet.  My love of all things blazers came from her.  I once saw a pic and was sold that I could rock it too.  My friends know I sport a blazer every where and I think if she can do it so can I!
