Interesting...

While shopping with my sister on the weekend she surprised me when I showed her a bag I noticed and she replied “great satchel”.  My first thoughts were, who is this girl and where is my sister, then I applauded her for her knowledge, and she said “I read your blog, duh”, we had a good chuckle.  So this post is all about the different handbags out there, and to inform those who don’t know what bags are which.  Maybe next time you’re out with your sister or girlfriend you can tell them “I love the hobo”, or “I need a new box clutch”.  Enjoy the post and hope you find it useful.

SATCHEL:
This is a bag that has a strap that runs typically cross-body.  It’s very similar in look and style to a briefcase but is soft sided.  It gets its name from the British who referred to book bags as satchels.

{ALDO}

HOBO:
This bag is typically large and crescent in shape.  It should fall or slouch when it is resting, or placed down.

CLUTCH:
Small or medium size, made for handheld carrying only.  “Clutched in one’s hand” is how it gets its name.  This type of bag used to be for evening the most but now stretches into day use as well.

BOX CLUTCH:
Same idea as the CLUTCH however is boxy in shape and is hard sided.

TOTE:
Large in style, typically open at the top.  The straps are centered on the bag.  “To tote something around” so it’s great for luggage and the shove everything in type bag.

MESSENGER BAG:
A very large side bag, worn almost always cross body.

 {PUMA}

SLING BAG:
Similar in style to the messenger bag however it is scaled to be smaller.

SHOULDER BAGS:
The most typical style of handbag out there.  It is a bag that has a shorter strap that fits over your shoulder.  Bag can be any size.

HALF MOON:
A shoulder bag that is shaped like a half moon.

POCKETBOOK:
This is/was an old name for a very small purse.  It gets its name because they are so small they should “fit in your pocket”.  This term is not used very much anymore, since we now carry sooo many things in our bag they are not useful much anymore.

Happy Monday Morning Everyone!

This weekend was a barrel of laughs!  I went to my first TFC game on Saturday, and it was a total blast.  Then hit the downtown Guelph for some bevies with my buddy Jamie, celebrating his 30th birthday.  Sunday was lazy lazy.  Sushi and shopping with my sister {those clothes posts to come soon}.

Starting to feel the summer blahs of patios and late nights, today I am heading back into the gym to begin and refocus my energies on ME.  Let the butt-whopping begin!

Recently Victoria Secret model Miranda Kerr walked the runway for David Jones.  This is her in a mono-kini, WOW.  I think I will use this picture for motivation of what could be!..lol  A girl can dream!   If this doesn’t give you inspiration to keep up your summer bikini bod thru into the fall nothing will.  She is a complete knock out!

Back into the gym we go ladies! lol

I love window shopping on {ZARA}.  First their clothes are not in my budget, and nor do they fit my waist line.  BUT, if the two previous things were not factors I would shop there all the time!  As the weather is slated to get slightly cooler this weekend then how it has been, it’s getting me excited to pull out my blazers and totally rock them again.  Below are four blazer looks from Zara’s website that I totally love.  Check them out.  Also, the green denim pants I want to covet; now to find them in my size..lol
Click on the pictures to take you to the webpage for them.

Diane Kruger wore this entire menswear inspired outfit from designer Jason Wu to In Style’s Summer Soiree, held at the London Hotel on Thursday (August 10) in West Hollywood.  I love a good menswear look, and think the strappy heel makes it very feminine and the turquoise is a nice offset to the black and navy.  And the butter yellow clutch is A+ in my books!
